Women in Finance Awards2022 FM Finance Monthly Women in Finance Awards 2022 The financial services sector has never had a good reputation when it comes to gender equality. Women who work in the industry have for years faced numerous challenges and barriers and although we seem to be seeing some improvement, female representation on boards and in executive suites remains woefully low. A great deal of work remains to be done to ensure better opportunities for women’s advancement in financial services. As a leading financial publication, Finance Monthly strives to shine a light on the work of female professionals, the obstacles they face and the challenges they overcome. Each of the finance experts featured in this year’s edition of the Finance Monthly Women in Finance Awards are women who consistently achieve more than is expected of them despite barriers within the industry at large. At Finance Monthly, we are proud to share their stories with you. We hope you enjoy this edition. Congratulations to our winners!

18 www.finance-monthly.com in the power of family, discipline, entrepreneurship, and the drive to excel. Under the leadership of its founding principals (Laura Tutte and Alex Martin), the team is driven to experience pride in their work and the rewards that come from building strong, advice-centric relationships, undaunted by challenge or complexity. Integrated Wealth Planning focuses on six key principles for developing tailor-made strategies for each client: understand, guide, build, innovate, reassess, and extrapolate. Utilizing these key principles, the team works directly with every client to help determine the right strategy for each family’s needs. Understand We get to know our clients, their families, and their businesses. We aren’t shy about having difficult conversations that move us forward in our understanding of their circumstances and objectives. A deep dive into each client’s life, company, wealth structure, and attitudes toward risk helps the Integrated Wealth Planning team to gain a deeper understanding of each client. The team is experienced in navigating the tough discussions that address individual vulnerabilities without judgement. The use of behavioral finance tools helps them to gain a better understanding of clients’ wealth personality traits and identify financial blind spots. Guide We advise our clients on our integrated strategy and collaborate with each family on our plan to bring it to life based on their specific needs. The recommendations, strategies and actions offered are based upon the priorities and objectives of each individual family. Client needs are addressed with integrated strategies that contemplate everything from short-term cash flow needs, tax considerations, insurance strategies and retirement plans to long-standing generational and philanthropic wishes. The Integrated Wealth Planning team helps to provide an environment in which clients can think very clearly and fearlessly about what is important today and in the future from day-to-day needs all the way to big, lofty goals. Build Our clients dream the destination. We build a roadmap to lead them through all eventualities so that they can lead their lives and businesses confidently. The Integrated Wealth Planning team works inclusively on a family-oriented wealth plan aligned with client needs and addressing the family’s prime concerns first. They follow a disciplined process and draw upon outsourced expertise as necessary to deliver uncompromising portfolio recommendations, consistent problem-solving and exceptionally precise execution, and follow-up. Drawing from the best TD has to offer and other world-class resources, the Team performs significant due diligence to source what they believe to be the best-in-class research and money managers. Portfolios are diversified across asset classes on a strategic, multi-variant basis and are meticulously monitored to help guard against undue risks. Susie Hillier www.stonehagefleming.com Partner and Head of Wealth Planning at Stonehage Fleming 21 www.finance-monthly.com About Susie Hillier Susie is a Partner and Head of Wealth Planning at Stonehage Fleming, one of the world’s leading independently owned multi- family offices and the largest in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). She sets a high standard for technical regulated advice delivery and is widely recognised in the market particularly in the complex area of UK pension provision. Susie has spent the majority of her career advising private clients within professional consultancy environments at a number of leading chartered accountancy firms. Finance Monthly had the pleasure of speaking to Susie for an exclusive interivew: What are your biggest achievements you are most proud of? I am very proud of the fact that over half of my team is made up of women, and that this is true at all levels. Having joined the business in 2012, I took over the leadership of the Wealth Planning division in 2015 when Stonehage Fleming was created. We have grown significantly in the last few years, both in terms of clients and employees, and that has helped us hire some of the best people in our field. WithinWealth Planning, we added 6 new team members in the last year alone and the broader group, through acquisition, gained offices in five new jurisdictions. We are now able to provide a much greater breadth and depth in terms of team and offering than ever before covering UK domestic and international planning. What is your advice to fellow women in finance? Lead by example. You are only as good as your team; help them grow and your business will grow. Listening is the key when helping our clients and it is also true when assembling a team. People want to work in an inclusive environment where diversity is supported and where everyone feels free U N I T E D K I N G D OM Wealth Planning Leader of the Year to be themselves and express their opinions in order to succeed. Stonehage Fleming’s commitment to social capital is enabling us to do this. This year, we supported a number of initiatives, such as the 10,000 Black Interns (an initiative that aims to help young adults kick start their career and improve diversity in the City) and the Duke of Edinburgh International Award (with Afrika Tikkun in South Africa). Our most significant accomplishment is the introduction of SF15, an initiative that honours women for their accomplishments in adherence of financial, cultural, social and intellectual capital (an endorsement of our Four Pillars of Capital philosophy). By allowing women to connect, educate themselves, and work together, we are looking to build a community for them in the wealth management space. Through these actions, Stonehage Fleming continues to demonstrate the diversity of talent and appeal in the financial services industry beyond what is seen as ‘standard’. We must provide people with opportunities to support one another and celebrate their successes. Action causes reaction, which can only be advantageous in the end. Why is this award recognition crucial to you and your team? Wealth Planning has faced some of its largest challenges in recent years, and gender diversity is still rare. I am proud of thework that I have done overmy career as a trusted adviser to a wide client base of entrepreneurs, board directors, professional partnerships and private equity professionals. Getting recognition for this encourages me to move on with the team who are committed to their individual and each other’s personal and professional development. There is so much more we can do and we are prepared to forge ahead.

U N I T E D K I N G D OM Investment Expert of the Year

23 www.finance-monthly.com Why do you think inclusivity is important for private markets investors? Being at the forefront of ESG and diversity and inclusion isn’t just the right thing to do, although of course it is, but we believe it is absolutely critical to building long-term value and fulfilling both our ambitions and those of our clients. Private equity is an incredibly competitive industry. Professionals in this sector are laser-focused on securing the best investments to deliver risk-adjusted returns and helping clients achieve their own financial objectives. Our view is that in order to generate strong performance, it is hugely beneficial to have a diverse team who will provide different views and not fall into the trap of “groupthink”. How does Pantheon approach and promote diversity? Diversity and inclusion has been part of Pantheon’s DNA for the past 40 years, going back to our earliest beginnings with a female co-founder, and it remains critical today, as you can see from the latest figures that we publish on diversity and inclusion on our website. But it’s important to reiterate that diversity and inclusion isn’t an end in itself, it is about ensuring we hire the very best people who can bring a range of talents and perspectives to deliver performance for our clients. I’mvery proud to have contributed to the growth of this business as it has evolved from a private equity fund investor to a holistic private markets firm with strategies covering all private market asset classes and across the full life cycle of investments. What does the future have in store for private equity? In the short term the industry will be navigating the turbulence in the wider global economy, but as well as bringing challenges for investors and the companies they back, these points in the economic cycle can bring about great opportunities. Our role is to be judicious and considered in capitalising on these opportunities as they arise. More generally, there has been a general shift and increase in capital flows to private markets over recent years alongside a well-documented shrinkage in public market opportunities, which we expect to continue. I think there is increasing recognition of the value of the differentiated opportunities and governance advantages private markets can offer and we want to continue to be part of offering broader access to these asset classes for a wider range of investors. U N I T E D K I N G D OM Investment Expert of the Year It is hugely beneficial to have a diverse team who will provide different views and not fall into the trap of “groupthink”.

Maria Lozovik www.marshamim.com Partner and Portfolio Manager at Marsham Investment Management 25 www.finance-monthly.com About Maria Lozovik Maria Lozovik is a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Marsham Investment Management, a London-based investment manager. Maria has over 17 years’ experience in the financial industry, including over 10 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where she worked in ECM, investment banking and corporate finance. Maria has a successful portfolio track record and manages the Transitional Issuers strategy at Marsham IM. Maria views climate change as an investment opportunity and focuses on companies that are driving transition in their respective sectors. The strategy consistently outperforms the market with the USD fund ranked 1st in USD Broad Bonds - Absolute Return by Camradata in 2022. About Marsham IM Founded in 2016, Marsham Investment Management is a London-based investment manager providing fund management services across asset classes as well as tailored externally managed accounts solutions. It now manages four liquid funds and is ranked number one for its USD broad bond fund by Camradata. At the core of our investment philosophy is an unconstrained active investment management based on proprietary fundamental analysis and supported by innovative AI technology. Benefitting from a highly experienced team, Marsham IM offers a unique blend of professional investment management coupled with an individual approach to investors’ requirements. Marsham IM is a signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment. Why is Marsham IM different? Marsham IM not only offers highly professional investment management services, but understands the importance of taking a tailored investment approach to suit investors’ individual requirements. This is thanks to our team of senior professionals who all have vast industry experience and take on board clients’ preferences in relation to product, exposure, and strategy. At the core of our analysis is in-depth fundamental research on each issuer. Our work is supported by the use of innovative AI technology, which sets us apart in the industry and automates the tasks that juniors would usually carry out. This artificial intelligence platform, Sevva.ai, saves us time, resources, and supports our ESG strategy by providing real-time ESG ratings on every public and private company globally. Thanks to our in-depth analysis and expertise, Marsham IM’s funds have still performed very well despite the recent market volatility. What is the Transitional Issuers strategy? There is a growing pressure from investors to divest from traditionally ‘dirty’ sectors and invest in companies that are labelled as green or sustainable. Our Transitional Issuers strategy is based on the idea that, in practice, divestment is not the best strategy to have meaningful impact. We invest in transitional companies that are not currently recognised as ESG leaders but have an established sustainability strategy in place and need investment to achieve their goals. Marsham IM sees real opportunities for excess returns as these companies improve their ESG credentials and adapt their operations to become more sustainable. We identify these opportunities with the use of AI technology, which maximises our chances of finding issuers that will have a positive sustainable impact and generate higher returns. The sectors we invest are often “old economy” industries ranging from building materials to industrials, utilities, autoparts or packaging. At the core of Marsham IM’s vision is the belief that investing in the climate change super cycle is financially rewarding for clients, as is evidenced by our fund’s strong performance. Kairos is a business first and a financial company second, founded out of our passion for wealth management, as delicate a profession as it may be. Kairos is synonymous with success in the asset management sector. From the small, temporary office in via Conservatorio, Milan to a player in different financial markets, Kairos is the result of an opportunity and a bright idea: create an alternative to big asset management industry players by rethinking investment strategies and the business model. The Kairos Group initially specialized in hedge funds, which are more flexible investments than traditional mutual funds. In 1999, it launched its first long-short single-manager fund. It was managed by Kairos Investment Management Limited based in London, considered a vital hub for global financial information. In the same year, Kairos Partners SGR was established in Italy and received the Bank of Italy’s authorization to perform asset management activities. It began operating in 2000 with the launch of two open-ended investment funds. When Italy passed legislation opening the market to hedge funds, Kairos decided to put its expertise in the hedge fund business to use in Italy as well, launching the country’s first hedge fund of funds. The brand began making a name for itself in the industry for the performance of its managed funds, its revolutionary approach to new products, its independence and the way in which it aligned its interests with those of its clients. MISSION Kairos presents itself as a laboratory of ideas, strongly believing in the investment boutique model. Its mission is the constant enhancement of capital, in a constant alignment of interests with clients. PERFORMANCE Differentiating element in asset management. We are highly attuned to the needs of a world where lifespans are increasing and careers and retirement are lengthening and becoming more flexible. Although healthcare is becoming more effective, it is also becoming expensive as public and corporate sources of lifelong pension and care are transferring risk to individuals in the face of financial pressure. During Capital Markets Day in December 2020, we announced Aegon’s new strategy and financial targets. With this new strategy we are taking important steps to transform our organization, change our performance trajectory and increase value for our customers, shareholders, and other stakeholders.
