Laura approaches her work as an entrepreneur, business owner, leader, and practitioner. She endeavors to provide clients with comfort and confidence through a process of education and empowerment, with the overarching commitment of providing “A Remarkably Different Experience”.
As one of the founding principals of Integrated Wealth Planning, Laura drives the strategic direction and operation of a practice that strives to deliver an exceptional client experience to High-Net-Worth families with sophisticated planning needs.
Laura works tirelessly with her clients striving to earn their trust, build their confidence and exceed their expectations every day. She is passionate about making the Wealth Management industry more approachable – especially for women, both as clients and as colleagues in the industry. Laura recognizes the importance and responsibility of being a female role-model in this industry and is intentional about spending the time and energy to share with others in her field. It is Laura’s privilege to provide leadership and mentorship to every member of her team and she is dedicated to supporting the development of her team members in the pursuit of excellence.
Laura is actively involved in community groups that are aligned with her values of empowerment and education for women. She has been an active member and contributor to Women4Change (Hamilton Community Foundation) since 2015 and has been a financial sponsor and participating mentor for Women as Career Coaches (Halton Industry Education Council) annually since 2016.
Laura graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2003 and completed a post-graduate certificate program in Financial Planning through Sheridan College in 2004. She holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation and the Certificate in Advanced Investment Advice (Canadian Securities Institute). She has a professional interest in investor behavior and the emotional and psychological aspects of advising clients and to that end has obtained training and certification as a Behavioral Financial Advisor through Kaplan University. The skills she developed through this certification equip her to advise clients on a deeper level about the connection between their financial goals and their core values, understand and navigate their emotions (particularly during times of uncertainty) and improve decision-making in support of their mutual goal of better outcomes related to their long-term objectives.
Within the scope of the work that she does with her clients, she has placed specific emphasis on Financial Literacy at all life stages. She works closely with the children of her clients to help prepare them for financial success and independence, advise them as they begin to build their own families and develop their own priorities, as well as prepare them for the future stewardship of the family’s wealth. It is of the utmost importance to her that the wealth conversation remains approachable and relevant across the generations.
